Identity Verification:
This is the most innovative project that has been implemented recently in the sectors of the Ministry of Interior. The aim of the Project is to stay updated with modern technical developments and changes regarding verification of the identity of citizens and expatriates in Saudi Arabia.
The objectives of the Project:
The project is aimed at a number of vital goals foremost of which are:
- Building a central database to keep fingerprints of all Saudi citizens, expatriates in Saudi Arabia besides those who infringe the regulations.
- Making full use of the database of fingerprints by the Ministry of Interior, other ministries and the private sector.
- Speeding up identity verification process.
- Reducing illegal overstay of expatriates.
Taking fingerprints of citizens and expats in Saudi Arabia:
It is necessary that the dealer must use the Fingerprint System currently used in the sectors of the Ministry of Interior once in a lifetime. The system operates according to a number of steps:
- Taking immediate fingerprints using fingerprint scanner.
- Taking immediate photographs using digital cameras.
- Performing immediate matching to make sure if the person has already been registered in the system and determine his identity.
Taking fingerprints of violators of Saudi Residency System:
- Taking all fingerprints of violators of residence regulations and fingerprints of those who cross the borders of Saudi Arabia illegally, using fingerprint scanner.
- Taking immediate photographs using digital cameras.
- Performing immediate matching to make sure if the person has already been registered in the system and determine his identity.
The System includes high technical capabilities if it is compared to previous methods of identity verification. The most notable of these capabilities are:
- The ability to search and match identity in the databases in less than a minute.
- The possibility to verify the identity of a person in less than five seconds.
- The ability to communicate with more than 2000 fingerprinting devices.
- The ability to link with hand-held fingerprint reading devices, and those devices in vehicles, to confirm the identity of a person.
