COLLEGE DIPLOMAS OF FILIPINOS EXEMPTED FROM
SAUDI CULTURAL ATTACHE AUTHENTICATION
The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia wishes to inform all concerned Filipino nationals that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its Note No. 91/94/73/23180 dated 29 September 2010, has granted the request of the Philippine Consulate General to exempt the college diplomas of Filipinos working in the Kingdom from authentication by the Office of the Saudi Cultural Attaché.
This exemption is a result of the Consulate General’s representations made in behalf of several OFWs who have sought its assistance in the authentication of their college diplomas and other scholastic records. These OFWs informed that in the authentication of their records, they were being required to, additionally, secure the authentication of the Office of the Saudi Cultural Attaché. As the Royal Saudi Embassy in Manila does not have an Office of the Cultural Attaché, their records had to be sent to nearby Asian countries where a Saudi Embassy has a Cultural Attaché, thereby unnecessarily lengthening the authentication period.
The Consulate General warmly welcomes this development but reminds that despite this exemption, an authentication of academic records by the Royal Saudi Embassy in Manila is still required if such are to be utilized for purposes in the Kingdom.
Please be guided accordingly.
