Advisory

Apply for Passport Renewal Well in Advance

To avoid any inconvenience, the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah stresses the following important points regarding procedures for the issuance of the new passports:

  • Due to the non-availability of supply of the old green passport, and the instructions of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila to fully implement the machine readable passport, it will not be possible to renew, extend or issue new passports in Jeddah.
  • The new passports can only be issued in the Philippines, and applications will be received by the Consulate and sent to the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila for issuance of the new passport.
  • The applicant will receive his/her new passport thirty (30) days after filing his/her application.

All Filipinos should check the validity of their passports if they intend to travel within the next 12 months as most countries require a passport with 6 months or more validity before issuance of visas and entry into the country.

It has been observed that some employers/sponsors release the passports of Filipinos under their sponsorship only close to the date of expiry and sometimes after the date of expiry.  In addition, some sponsors who wish to bring their household workers on vacation expect that the Consulate General could renew or issue new passports within the day.  This is no longer possible.
